This week we have been looking at the differences between Queen Elizabeth I and Queen Victoria. We then became our favourite King or Queen during a hot seating activity. We all took a turn in the hot seat to answer questions, then we changed roles and asked the Kings and Queens questions about themselves. In our English learning, we completed writing our instructions on how to look after a corgi. We then used our word processing skills to produce our amazing, polished set of instructions.......aren't they great!! This week the Queen has had both a new palace and a new pair of knickers designed for her by our expert design team......how lucky are you your majesty!! In our maths learning, one of our groups was rote counting to 5 and counting 6 objects in a line. Another group was comparing, describing and solving practical problems for mass/weight, which allowed them to use their thinking skills! Subtracting numbers using pictoral representations was the learning for another of the groups. Finally, measuring, comparing, adding and subtracting length was the learning of another of the groups.

This week we have started to look at a new book in our English learning.......The Queen's Knickers. We thought the title of the book was hilarious! Our first stop in this learning journey was to take part in our favourite English learning........role play!! Have a look at our photos to check us out. Miss Dixon says that we were so amazing, we'll be on TV one day. We've also had a busy week in our maths learning. Some of us have been weighing objects to find out whether they weigh less or more than 1kg. Others have been using maths equipment to solve subtraction problems, another group has been reading co-ordinates and another has sorted objects by size.
This week we have been estimating and weighing objects....and each other! We've had great fun and now know the words gram and kilogram. Ask us how many grams are in a kilogram!
What do you think of our fabulous display so far? We've been working really hard this term. We designed a wedding dress for Meghan Markle and we think she should have chosen one of ours! I'm sure you'll agree that our London landmark paintings would look good in any art gallery. We also designed our own stamps to commemorate the Royal wedding. In our topic learning this week, we debated about what makes a good monarch. We compared the reigns of Queen Elizabeth and Henry VIII and decided that Henry wasn't the best of monarchs! We've finally completed our amazing London landmark fact files. We thoroughly enjoyed learning the history of the landmarks and we answered lots of questions that we asked at the beginning of the topic. This week we began a new English genre. We are going to write instructions,'How to look after a Corgi'. First of all we looked at the features of instructions to help us to know what a good instruction text will look like. The we looked at bossy doing words, which we will need to write our instructions next week. We're having a great time in our London souvenir shop role play area. We practise our maths skills by selling and buying the souvenirs. We also use our English skills when we write a postcard home from a London holiday.
